M. Wali Ullah is an experienced maritime claims professional and lawyer supports the international shipping industry on marine liability claims, including P&I and FD&D matters, casualty response coordination and dispute-support strategy.
M. Wali Ullah is a maritime claims professional and lawyer with nearly thirteen years of combined experience in the road and maritime transport sectors, including more than a decade dedicated exclusively to maritime claims handling in Bangladesh. He has been associated with Assurance Maritime Bangladesh Limited since 2012 and has progressed within the firm to the position of Claims Associate.
He focuses on the practical handling of marine insurance and liability claims arising from vessel operations in Bangladeshi ports and waters, combining operational coordination with disciplined claims management and stakeholder engagement. He supports shipowners, charterers, insurers and international law firms on casualty response, investigations and third-party liability matters across Bangladesh.
Mr Ullah handles a broad range of P&I and marine liability matters arising during the operational life of vessels trading to Bangladesh. His experience includes cargo shortage and damage, collisions and allisions, jetty damage and other FFO incidents, stowaways, crew injury, illness and fatality cases, customs penalties and regulatory fines. He regularly handles FD&D matters, including demurrage, laytime, deadfreight and bunker and necessaries disputes.
He has also worked on rare and sensitive casualty scenarios, including cases involving unidentified human remains found on board vessels. His practical coordination in such matters has assisted in avoiding vessel detention and minimising operational disruption.
He regularly manages and coordinates on-site investigations, working alongside surveyors, adjusters, shipboard personnel and other technical experts to establish robust and defensible factual records. This early-stage involvement supports accurate liability assessment, quantum analysis and strategic positioning and informs negotiations, security arrangements and settlement strategy.
Through sustained engagement across the maritime sector, he has developed an extensive local network, enabling effective mobilisation of resources and coordination with port authorities, terminals, agents, law-enforcement agencies, hospitals and other local stakeholders.
M. Wali Ullah holds a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B. Honours) from the University of Chittagong. He is a Claims Associate and Lawyer at Assurance Maritime Bangladesh Limited and has been engaged in maritime claims handling since 2012.
He works in Bangla (native proficiency) and English (professional proficiency).
